Our favorite bedtime books – for kids (2 to 6 years)

If there is one thing I learned a little late and regret about it then it has to be falling in love with books. There is nothing more soul soothing for me than reading books at my favorite corner of the house while sipping a hot cup of tea. I found my love for books when I was in 12th standard and I wanted to inculcate this habit of reading in my kid sooner than I started.

From the first day at a new school to our first flight together, early childhood is full of new and sometimes scary for kids. We have used books to prepare our little one for nearly every big event: the first airplane ride, first visit the dentist, first day of school.

Did you know sharing stories about common sleep challenges helps kids feel less alone and also helps in transforming prickly problems into fun experiences in the family ? As an added bonus, many children’s books offer creative solutions for common sleep challenges, from helping kids stay in bed all night long to conquering nighttime fears. Reading before sleep is a simple way to help children unwind before bedtime. To take advantage of this time is a great opportunity to introduce the sleep solution books that offers interesting advice on getting toddlers to stay in their own beds which will hopefully have a positive impact on parents sleep as well.

Here is the list of our favorite bedtime books and we hope your little one loves these too:

1)Boss of My Sleep for Children: A Friendly Book for both Parents and Children

This book is written by Prof. Sarah Blunden. It provides a fantastic sleep guide for toddlers, which encourages a peaceful sleep throughout the night. It takes a child through a journey where the Australian animals are the companion. It not only helps in a better night’s sleep but also really encourages a positive mindset and environment.

2)Goodnight Peppa

My little one absolutely loves Peppa (Evey kid nowadays do, I guess). Who better than one of her favorite cartoon characters can help her calm and happy at bedtime. In the book, it is time for bed but Peppa and George but they are not even a little bit tired in this delightful brand new picture book.

This picture book story is perfect for reading at bedtime, playtime and over and over again! Based on the hit pre-school animation, Peppa Pig, shown daily on Five’s Milkshake and Nick Jnr.

3) Getting ready for sleep

This book is one of the favorites in the lot. Sandra Boynton the author of this book is a popular American humorist, songwriter and children’s author. In this book, an ark full of animals watches the sun go down and then prepares for bed. They take a bath (“in one big tub”), find pajamas, brush their teeth, do exercises up on deck (imagine an elephant jumping rope, a moose lifting weights, and a pig doing handstands), and finally, say good night. 4) If animals kissed Goodnight

More than the little one I love this book. Soft, adorable illustrations are the primary reason why this book is so excellent. It also, very subtly, starts lowering the lights in the background as the book gets closer to the end. n a cozy bedtime chat with her mom, a young girl wonders how animal families might say good night. Would Wolf and his pup “kiss and then HOWL”?

All these books are available on Amazon at affordable pricing.
