Best In-house Plants That Help In Improving Air Quality

Last night when I was walking in our society, I looked up. First, I had a sprain in my neck to look up that high for the sky (23 floors building) and when I found sky, it was pitch black. Stars were not visible and one or two which were there were not as bright as I remembered. Pollution is getting worse with each passing day. There are a million reasons that are adding up to make the situation so grave. Living in an energy efficient, modern building can have inadvertent side effects. One of these side effects is less air flow.

Lack of air flow allows for indoor air pollution to build up and cause health issues. It not only increases the risk of breathing diseases, heart issues, and even cancer but can also accelerate the appearance of aging. Our parents were never worried about the deficiency of vitamin D for us or themselves. We played in sunlight and had no clue what pollution mask is. The sky was clean and at night stars were bright as bulbs.

Vacuuming and dusting regularly help in reducing indoor pollution. Opening a window whenever we can, and investing in a quality air filter are also good options. There’s another way to make indoor air quality better while giving a touch of class to your indoor spaces and that is the use of In-house plants. Any greenery helps, but there are certain plants that clean the air better than the rest. Here is a list of in-house plants which help in improving air quality:

  • Spider plants (Chlorophytum comosum )

Spider plants grow quickly and look great in hanging baskets or in your balcony garden. These plants have more than 200 species and many of them can survive a little forgetfulness from us.

  • Aloe vera

The medicinal claims made about this plant are endless and we all know about its goodness. This beneficial plant with purpose is really easy to grow in your home and in the garden.

  • Warneck Dracaena

Combat pollutants associated with varnishes and oils with this dracaena. The Warneckii grows inside easily, even without direct sunlight.

  • Heart Leaf Philodendron

Heart Leaf philodendron plants remove air-born toxins such as formaldehyde from the air. There are over 200 different varieties of philodendron plants that come in different sizes, colors, and leaf shapes.

  • Bamboo Palm

These air-purifying plants are ideal for people who want to spend more time with their plant. All of them require fertilizer once a month, as well as extra care like misting or repotting.

  • Rubber Plants

This is a floor plant. Rubber plants are inexpensive and good for your indoor decor.

Other than above-mentioned plants azalea, Chinese Evergreen and Daisies are wonderful options too.

If you have a pet like a dog or a cat then please make sure to ask the experts at your local greenhouse/nursery about pet safe and allergy-safe options before you decide to buy in-house plants.
