Second Serve – Love & Life On The Line By Aparna Aggarwal (Book Review)

Hello Readers,

How are your new year’s resolutions going? Being in my thirties I have learned one thing pretty well, keep the expectations low. When the year started. all I decided that I want to increase the number of books I read. This is the second month of the year and I have successfully finished the fourth book of the year. However, this is the second book review of the year because I am lazy.

I am working on my habit of unnecessary-procrastination and hopefully, in the coming months, there will be a lot more reviews and posts coming up. For now, let’s get back to our review for this book.

Book: Second Serve- Love & Life On The Line

Author: Aparna Aggarwal

Genre: Fiction, Romance

What did I love in this story?

I have a feeling that the author loves tennis and understands the nook & cranny of each stroke of this game. The story revolves around two leads of the story, Ragini and Abhimanyu. The star of the Tennis world,  Abhimanyu, on one hand, fights his demons after being injured on the field, and on the other hand, the injury also helps in untangling his relationships in life. The female protagonist, Ragini, is an independent and self-sufficient woman on the monetary front. She knows her business well and values relationships. While we are talking about leading characters, we have to pay attention to the silent-admirer of the female lead, Gautham. The man exudes charms and wits while being a true gentleman as well as a true friend to her. I found myself rooting for him while reading the story.

I loved the minute details mentioned in the story about the game. The love story goes through the test of times and we witness characters dealing with it differently. Although I have never watched a match of Tennis before in my life after reading the book, I guess, I can understand the game a bit. I thoroughly enjoyed the detailed description of different places these characters traveled to or had their home. Ragini’s parents were a true depiction of Indian parents and a glimpse of our parents can easily be seen in their conversation.

All in all, this one is a rollercoaster ride of different emotions one goes through in love. Will the 16 years of love find its true ending or the characters will move on to a different path in their life?

What did I Not love in this story?

To be honest, I am not a sports person so, reading about one particular sport in such depth was a bit of a different experience, for me. The story starts slow and finds its place somewhere in the middle of the book. I found it to be a bit lacking in terms of twists and turns in the story to keep me hooked. There were a few grammatical errors in the book. It won’t go on my must-read list however, Given this one is Author’s debut novel, it wasn’t a bad attempt at all.

Well, it is not a heavy read and you can enjoy it on a relaxed evening with a hot cup of tea.

They say one moment can change your life. But what if one person had that impact in your life, again and again?

You can buy this book either from Amazon or read it on Kindle.
