4 Books From My Bookshelf That Make Me Happy

4 Books From My Bookshelf That Make Me Happy

Let me just start by saying I can read mushy and clichéd love stories all day long and still won’t be bored of the genre. I am a true romantic at heart and love to read stories of people hopelessly falling in love. I know, ideally, a topic like this, should include books that lift one’s spirit and makes them happy, don’t worry I have a few of those as well.

Do I own a Bookshelf?

A fellow reader once asked whether I am pro-kindle or anti-kindle. I am pro-reading but books that are tangible and I can feel the warmth with my hands will always have a special place in my heart. To be honest, I don’t have a dedicated personalized shelf for my books, I have a dream of having one once I own the house (fingers crossed, hopefully, this dream will be fulfilled this year). I have a cupboard which is almost full of my books.

How many books do I have?

I swear, I never counted how many books I have, however, just a rough guess it might be 100+ and the treasure keeps growing almost every month. I haven’t read all the books that I own but I have a feeling one day I will. If it’s of romantic or a thriller then that’s going to be my first pick out of the lot. So, it is safe to say I have read all the books of this genre that are kept safely in my cupboard and I keep revisiting those whenever I feel a little dull or out of love. Peace of mind is often a product of a simple cognitive pattern: you see what you think about, and you think about what you see. Happy in, happy out.

Here is the list of Books that I absolutely love from my bookshelf and it brings an instant smile on my face if I see someone even discussing these:

  • Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert

I had to read this book because everyone kept recommending it and it is so popular that it is almost impossible to not read it. The book is a real story. It is a short journal from the time when the writer went traveling to three different countries in pursuit of different things.

Elizabeth was not happy in her life, she wasn’t happy in her marriage. She suffered a terrible divorce and terrible breakup soon after, which shattered her mentally. She didn’t know where to go and what to do, all she knew was that she wanted to go away somewhere far. She decides to go on a weird adventure. She decides to go to three countries in a year and see if she can find out what she was looking for in life. This book is about that life-changing journey that she takes for one whole year.

  • The 5 Love Languages: The Secret to Love That Lasts by Gary Chapman

Told you, my choices of books will more than often have love in the core of every story and my bookshelf is filled with books from this genre. Falling in love is easy. Staying in love, well, that’s the challenge. The Five Love Languages is easy to read, relatively short and provides examples and exercises that may be useful to readers.

The book highlights that the actions we may take to show our love to our partner are not necessarily received as intended, reminding the reader that people experience the world differently. This can be an important concept when trying to understand our partners’ needs and feelings.

  • The Other side of the midnight by Sidney Sheldon

This book has to be on the list of my favorites from my bookshelf because this was my first step towards the magical world of books. I never read a book like this before wherein a female protagonist has so much control over the story and I fell for this author’s writing head over heels.

This heroic fiction is a story of two women born far away from each other but linked closely by fate. One of them being the most beautiful, powerful and wild women named Noelle Page and the other being the smart and brainy who is unaware of the mysteries beauty beholds, named Catherine Alexander.  One of the great things about this book is the drama and theme of it.

  • The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

A little confession before I start writing about this choice of mine, this is the only book I have read of this author. I read it almost a decade back and it still remains in the top shelf of my cupboard. I read it somewhere on the internet, that it was translated in the English language back in 1993 and has already been published in whooping 56 languages.

The story is written in a simple and easy way that readers find relaxing to read. A wonderful adventure of Santiago, a young Spanish shepherd who was convinced that his recurring dream had prophetic meaning. Motivated with the idea, he set foot on a journey to a Romani place to find his purpose. I absolutely love the quote “when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it”, and this has become the main theme of the book.

Hope you have enjoyed reading my favorite books from the bookshelf that makes me happy. If you did then don’t forget to drop a comment and let me know your favorite one from this list.

At one point I had over 100 books but now due to space crunch and shifting homes, have got just a few. My favorite are box sets of GOT & Fifty shades of grey 😉 Love reading Dan brown, Sydney, and many more.
