#WhatILove – My Ever-growing Book Collection

#WhatILove – My Ever-growing Book Collection
Books are a door to another world, an escape from the mayhem of my daily life.

I was an average student with absolutely no interest towards studies. When my mom got to know about my hobby of reading novels she couldn’t believe at first. As per her, for me to sit at one place and read a book is an impossible task and I hated books.

The joke wherein a parent says “If you aren’t sleepy open a book and you will doze off” was meant for me. Turns out I hated the curriculum books only (No surprise there).

My love for the book started with Sidney Sheldon’s book named Are you afraid of the dark? It was given and recommended by a dear friend of mine back in school days. I am forever thankful to her for introducing me to this magical world of words. I am always fascinated with the perpetual link of a pen and heart/mind. It is fabulous to see the words flowing on a paper when there is a continuous thought process in your mind.

Confused me

You will often find me confused while I visit bookstores. It is difficult to choose or pick one book when almost every book calls your name (weird imagination? I know…). If I could name the materialistic things in the house that are my priced possession then it had to be the books I own?

I am automatically attracted to any human being (no gender biases here) when I see them reading my favorite author’s book. Reading plays a vital role in children’s and adults development, because it improves your ability to focus, retain information, thinks better and concentrates.

cup, specs, books

I fall in love with the characters of books and it leaves with their dreams at night (weird?? Yeah that’s me…). Not that one needs any reason to read a book but still, if you need a little push then these might help you:

Attention span gets better at reading

Reading can improve your attention span. Books have a beginning, middle, and end, and this structure is beneficial for our brains. It encourages us to think in sequence. The more we read, the more our brains are able to link cause and effect.

Transformation of words into images

No wonder you will find people giggling through while reading something funny or teary-eyed reading sad story. We transform words into images in our mind, completing the novel as our imaginations picture what the words are telling us.

Self-educating

Reading is a wonderful way of self-educating yourself. It is an excellent way of filling in your time, and it will give you a welcome break, from our sometimes mundane and repetitive lives. The human mind is a never-ending processing machine that always seeks information. Reading will help to nourish and stimulate your mind and keeps it engaged which will divert your mind from negative thinking and be worrying.

Woo people with your conversations

Hate getting into a conversation about celebrity gossip or watching idiot box? Try reading a book then. People underestimate the power gained from reading, which can be priceless, reading expands your knowledge and awareness. Reading will also stimulate your creative imagination. When you engage your curious mind in a book you can experience empathy, sympathy, and compassion with these make-believe characters, and this shows the power of your imagination as you bring these people and their experiences to life.

You can never stop learning nor should you. Reading is one of the cheapest forms of entertainment, it is even free on the internet or libraries. It can stimulate your analytic thinking abilities and skills.
